There has been various ways of drummers using weighted sticks over the years. Many drummers nowadays practice with aluminum or brass sticks to help them gain more speed and endurance as well as building wrist and forearm muscles. But many drummers and teachers who lean towards the 'old-school' way of thinking say these kind of sticks can hurt you and cause carpal tunnel.
