Aki Viitala managed 1149 strokes in 60 seconds, 382 in 20 seconds and 384 on the double bass drum.

The winner of the whole feast is undoubtedly Aki Viitala. He takes the grand slam with the best results in all categories. 1149 stroke 60sekunder, 382 strokes in 20 seconds, and a new Norwegian record on the bass drum with 384 strokes.

Aki is a very deserving winner of a complete Yamaha Drum with new skins and its own chair. He will also win a Yamaha double pedal, and 12 pairs Wincent drumsticks. Prizes of more than 10,000, - goes to a deserving champion.

Hello guys! Thank you for the article!

First of all; This was a national competition in Norway, and I broke the Norwegian record with my score of 1149 single strokes in 60 seconds. The record was witnessed by two official judges.

I´ve tried to contact somebody in the WFD- administration with my questions, but I haven´t received any good answers. I want to participate in the official WFD competition in 2012. I´ve been told that it is held in Nashville. I would´ve gone to China, but I have to get some financial support, and the contest in June/July gives me more time

So guys, help me out; give me a short 101 on how to enter the WFD-competition!
- where do I enter
- do I have to go through with some preliminary rounds (if yes, when and where?)
- do I have to be member of NAMM or something?
- do I get some guarantee that I will be allowed to participate?
- how many tries do you have? ( I read somewhere that Mangini tried to break the record for an hour...?)
As you understand; it is a relatively big financial commitment for me; I have to have everything figured out before I order both tickets/accomodation etc.

Aki, you should be in WFD Finals. With a score like 1149 man that is awesome!
yes you will need to go through prelims, but with 1100 you want have any problem

If WFD is at NAMM 2012 and if they have a public day, then you can come on Saturday morning and qualify then do the finals on saturday without having to be a member of NAMM. Open to PUBLIC on Saturday

you can do runs all the way up to finals as many as you want.....yes Mike Mangini and Jotan tried for days to break 1200, Jotan got like 1159, Mangini finally broke 1200 and I believe is the only one in the official 1200 club, 1200 is a very lonely club!
